ESF winners / Rare Air qualifiers

Rare Air, a new regional Smash Ultimate tournament, is coming up May 11-12 in Denver. The winners of Denver’s weekly Elite Smash Fridays (ESF) have been automatically qualifying, and so far, these have been the winners: Chronos, Shoe (twice), DSCF and Nicholas. Shoe’s repeat victory has created an extra spot at the last chance qualifier taking place May 10.

Early last month, the Philadelphia Department of Commerce hosted the Youth Creative Economy kickoff, where young entrepreneurs showcased their business ideas and creative industry projects to department leaders and special guests including investors, firm representatives and executives from businesses around the city. The 10-year-old founder and CEO of Baby Pigeon Co. won $5,000 in seed funding for her startup.

Philly’s community programming continued to flourish. Localhost resumed its biweekly FGC programs with See Me Offline (Street Fight 6) and Iron Phist Philly's "The Phurnace" (Tekken 8). The University of Pennsylvania was at Localhost last month. Masters students from Mjumbe Poe’s Geospatial Cloud Computing and Visualization class received an in-depth tour of the Netrality Data Center, including our own Localhost. The students explored not only the facility's significance in commerce and business as a multi-client data center, but the strategic importance and urban planning implications that go along with being in the heart of the city.

In conjunction with the Association of College Unions International (ACUI), administrators from 30+ college student unions toured Localhost in Denver. The schools were given a full tour and talk about what this type of facility would bring to their campus communities, and participants had the opportunity to ask questions and got first-hand experience playing on the PCs.
