CU Boulder sweeps the competition at Rocky Mountain Collegiate Series

by Brian Bencomo

The Rocky Mountain Collegiate Series (RMCS) featured competitions in Overwatch 2 and Rocket League this spring at Localhost Denver. CU Boulder swept the competition as they won both events.

In Rocket League, the 10 teams were divided into two groups of five, with the first phase of competition involving a round robin competition within each group. CU Boulder went 4-0 in the group stage and so did Western Colorado University. In the bracket stage, both teams won their semifinal matches to set up a grand finals showdown. CU Boulder won 4-0 to finish a clean sweep through the tournament as the Buffaloes didn’t drop any games or maps across the entire competition. Among the other schools that came out to compete were Colorado College, Colorado School of Mines, Fort Lewis College (who sent three teams) and the University of Denver.

CU Boulder similarly dominated the Overwatch 2 competition. The Buffaloes went 4-0 without dropping any maps in the round robin stage of the competition. The University of Wyoming also put on a strong showing, going 3-1 with a positive map differential. They reached the final in the bracket stage where they lost to CU Boulder. The other teams that competed in RMCS Overwatch were Fort Lewis College, Colorado College and the Air Force Academy.
